The Problem

Most ideas feel great in your head.

But when you actually share them on X… nobody reacts. No likes. No comments. No signal. You're building in the dark.

😶

Zero engagement

You post your idea, refresh the page, and see nothing. The silence tells you nothing useful.

🎲

Guessing games

Without data, you rely on gut feeling. That's how months of work end up solving a problem nobody has.

Wasted time

Founders lose weeks — sometimes months — building products the market never asked for.

The Solution

Track real engagement before you write a single line of code.

X Validator plugs into your X activity and measures actual human reactions to your ideas.

What does this Chrome extension do?

  • Automatically saves the post or reply if you clicked on the top of the post after hitting the reply and post button on X
  • Creates statistics about your activity so you can see your like/view and comment/view ratio
  • You can also save text comments so you can record human opinions about your idea

Strategy

How to find the right place to post your idea

Before you track engagement, you need to be in the right conversations. Here's how to find them on X.

1

Search your keywords on X or on Talkwalker

Type the core problem your tool solves into X's search bar. Think like your target user — what would they complain about or ask for help with?

2

Switch to the "Latest" tab

Don't use the default "Top" feed. Switch to Latest to see real, recent posts — not algorithmically boosted content. This is where genuine signal lives.

3

Check views before you comment

Before replying to a post, look at its view count. A post with more views means your comment gets more eyeballs — choose your spots strategically.

4

Not every keyword will work — and that's fine

Some keywords are dead ends. Don't give up after one day. Spend several days testing different angles until you find a keyword that surfaces active, engaged conversations.

💡

Pro tip

Treat keyword research like prospecting. The right keyword unlocks a whole community of people already talking about your problem. Once you find it, IdeaSignal can tell you which posts within that community are worth engaging with.

Stop guessing. Start building what works.

GDPR & Privacy Policy

We believe in radical transparency. Here's exactly what data we collect, how we use it, and what your rights are under the GDPR.

🔑 Short version: We only use Google Analytics to understand how people use our site. We don't sell your data, we don't store personal information ourselves, and we don't share data with third parties for marketing purposes.

1. Who we are

IdeaSignal is an idea validation tool for indie hackers and founders. This privacy policy explains our data practices in compliance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

2. What data we collect

We collect data exclusively through Google Analytics 4. This may include:

  • Pages visited and time spent on each page
  • Approximate geographic location (country/city level)
  • Browser type and operating system
  • Referring website (how you found us)
  • Device type (desktop, mobile, tablet)

This data is collected anonymously and is not linked to any personally identifiable information. We do not collect your name, email address, or any other direct identifiers through analytics.

3. Legal basis for processing

Our legal basis for processing analytics data is legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR) — specifically, our interest in understanding how our website is used so we can improve it. Where required by local law, we may rely on consent instead.

4. Google Analytics

Google Analytics is a web analytics service provided by Google LLC. Google may transfer this data to servers in the United States or other countries. Google has committed to GDPR compliance through the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

You can opt out of Google Analytics across all websites by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

For more information, see Google's Privacy Policy.

5. Cookies

Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser to distinguish users and sessions. These are analytical cookies, not marketing or targeting cookies. You can control cookies through your browser settings.

6. Your rights under GDPR

As an EU resident, you have the right to:

  • Access – request a copy of your personal data
  • Rectification – correct inaccurate personal data
  • Erasure – request deletion of your data
  • Restriction – limit how we process your data
  • Portability – receive your data in a portable format
  • Object – object to processing based on legitimate interest

Since analytics data is anonymised, we may not be able to identify or retrieve data tied to you specifically. To exercise your rights, contact us at the address below.

7. Data retention

Google Analytics retains data for 26 months by default (we have configured this as the retention period). After that, data is automatically deleted.

8. No data sales or third-party sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your data to any third party. Analytics data is used solely for internal purposes of improving IdeaSignal.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date of the latest revision is shown below. Continued use of the site constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

Please read this disclaimer carefully before using IdeaSignal. By accessing or using this website, you agree to be bound by these terms.

⚠️ Summary: IdeaSignal is provided as-is, for informational purposes only. We make no guarantees about the accuracy of engagement data, and we are not responsible for any business decisions you make based on the information shown.

1. No warranties

IdeaSignal is provided "as is" and "as available", without any warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that defects will be corrected.

2. No liability for business decisions

IdeaSignal provides engagement metrics and signals as informational data only. This data should not be considered as business advice, investment advice, or any professional recommendation.

We are not liable for any losses, damages, or costs — direct or indirect — that may result from:

  • Acting on signals or data provided by IdeaSignal
  • Business decisions made based on engagement metrics
  • Market or product validation conclusions drawn from our tool
  • Failure to validate an idea that later succeeded
  • Building a product that engagement data suggested would succeed

3. Accuracy of data

Engagement data from X (formerly Twitter) may be delayed, incomplete, or subject to API limitations. We make no guarantees about the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any data displayed in IdeaSignal.

Engagement metrics (likes, replies, reposts) are not infallible proxies for market demand. Many successful products were initially met with indifference, and many highly-engaged ideas never became viable businesses.

4. Third-party platforms

IdeaSignal integrates with X (formerly Twitter) via its API. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or officially connected to X Corp or any of its subsidiaries. Changes to X's API or policies may affect IdeaSignal's functionality without notice.

5. External links

Our website may contain links to third-party websites. We have no control over the content or privacy practices of those sites and accept no responsibility for them. The inclusion of any link does not imply endorsement.

6. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, IdeaSignal and its creators, contributors, and operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, resulting from:

  • Your access to or use of (or inability to use) IdeaSignal
  • Any conduct or content of any third party on the platform
  • Any content obtained from IdeaSignal
  • Unauthorized access, use, or alteration of your transmissions or content

7. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless IdeaSignal and its creators from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including legal fees) arising from your use of the service or violation of these terms.

8. Governing law

This disclaimer is governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the European Union and the country in which IdeaSignal operates. Any disputes arising from use of this service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the relevant courts.

9. Changes

We reserve the right to modify this disclaimer at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon posting. Your continued use of IdeaSignal constitutes your acceptance of the revised disclaimer.
